Sub-clustering in decomposable graphs and size-varying junction trees

چکیده
Abstract: This paper proposes a novel representation of decomposable graphs based on semi-latent tree-dependent bipartite graphs. The novel representation has two main benefits. First, it enables a form of subclustering within maximal cliques of the graph, adding informational richness to the general use of decomposable graphs that could be harnessed in applications with behavioural type of data. Second, it allows for a new node-driven Markov chain Monte Carlo sampler of decomposable graphs that can easily parallelize and scale. The proposed sampler also benefits from the computational efficiency of junction-tree-based samplers of decomposable graphs.

Complement of Special Chordal Graphs and Vertex Decomposability
In this paper, we introduce a subclass of chordal graphs which contains $d$-trees and show that their complement are vertex decomposable and so is shellable and sequentially Cohen-Macaulay.
متن کاملGenerating Junction Trees of Decomposable Graphs with the Christmas Tree Algorithm
The junction tree representation provides an attractive structural property for organizing a decomposable graph. In this study, we present a novel stochastic algorithm which we call the Christmas tree algorithm for building of junction trees sequentially by adding one node at a time to the underlying decomposable graph. The algorithm has two important theoretical properties. Firstly, every junc...
متن کاملSimulation of Hyper-Inverse Wishart Distributions for Non-decomposable Graphs
We propose an efficient solution to the problem of sampling from a hyperinverse Wishart distribution in non-decomposable graphs. The method relies on local computations based on the standard junction tree representation of graphs and distribution theoretical results of constraint Wishart matrices. We hope with this note to clarify a few confusing points that appeared in previous attempts to sol...
متن کاملConstructing vertex decomposable graphs
Recently, some techniques such as adding whiskers and attaching graphs to vertices of a given graph, have been proposed for constructing a new vertex decomposable graph. In this paper, we present a new method for constructing vertex decomposable graphs. Then we use this construction to generalize the result due to Cook and Nagel.
متن کاملSampling decomposable graphs using a Markov chain on junction trees
This paper makes two contributions to the computational geometry of decomposable graphs, aimed primarily at facilitating statistical inference about such graphs where they arise as assumed conditional independence structures in stochastic models. The first of these provides sufficient conditions under which it is possible to completely connect two disconnected cliques of vertices, or perform th...
